SUBMISSIONS - NOW OPEN FOR BITS - FEBRUARY 2019 - DEADLINE 10TH DECEMBER
WRITERS
We are looking for six pieces of new writing for our February 10th & 11th 2019 shows.
Pieces should be 10-20 minutes in length, have a cast of no more than four people and be suitable for staging in an intimate theatre space. Pieces can be previously produced in a development stage, but not as a fully produced production. They can either be standalone scenes or excerpts from full plays. Genre, style and themes are completely open. We love the bold, daring, weird, wacky, provocative, moving, funny, creepy, political, hard hitting and everything in between!
Please send your email submissions marked 'BITS - Writer submission' to the Cuckoo Bang team (Chris, Holly & Nel) at [email protected]
Each piece will be assigned a director and cast. Writers are very welcome to offer suggestions.
Writers will be given a complimentary ticket to attend a performance of their piece.
DIRECTORS
We are looking for directors with a passion for new writing for our upcoming BITS shows.
BITS directors are assigned a piece from our chosen six and are then provided with a cast (directors are welcome to send suggestions for casting). Commitments involve: sourcing rehearsal space and putting together a rehearsal schedule, being the point of contact for the writers and cast of the piece, sourcing props / costume from within the company and attending the tech & a performance.
We recommend each piece gets three rehearsals to allow everyone involved a decent chance to work on the script and showcase it as best as possible.
Directors will each get a complimentary ticket to attend a performance.
ACTORS
We are always looking for new actors to work with us on BITS. It's a great opportunity to perform work from some of the most exciting emerging and established writers & directors as well as perform for invited industry and general public in a leading London fringe venue. Actors need to be able to commit to three rehearsals, one tech rehearsal and two performances. Directors will make rehearsals as flexible as possible to accommodate everyone involved.
Please note all BITS positions are undertaken on a voluntary basis, working around your schedules and provided as an opportunity to create work in a collaborative, showcase setting which we hope will be mutually beneficial for everyone involved.
A limited number of industry comps will be available for actors to invite agents, directors, etc.
Any questions, just drop a line!
